The blog that I choose was one about the cyber defense for the blue team is what it is titled as. I like this blog because that is my ultimate goal and the career that I want to do after I have graduated from NOVA. I also have competed in the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) last year and want to again this coming year. Just thought this blog was helpful in getting some tips and maybe using it in the competition. The first part of the blog talks about capture the flag, which I am not really good at and need to practice that if I only want to get better at it. From my understanding of what capture the flag is gathering information or finding out what certain data is from a piece of information given to you. I think capture the flag is a great way of increasing your skills as an IT professional. Learning how to capture the flag can be somewhat difficult if you are trying to do it on your own. My suggestion would be to get with someone who is fairly good at it and work with that individual and get better at it. Also in a competition environment like the CCDC I would only have the strong individual working on capture the flag and get all of those knocked out real fast so you can get your points. The blog also talks about before you begin the competition and kind of list some guidelines to follow. I think that they are very helpful what was put out. It was things from who is going to be the team organizer, who is good at what operating systems, who are the strong players and weak players on the team, what are the rules of the competition, and a few other things that the blog suggests. All these suggestions are good guidelines to start at, and I think are very important to figure out before a team were to compete in event like this. It goes into talking about knowing what ports you need to keep open and who is going to monitor the system to check for…...

...Victoria and Albert museum, as part of the assignment I found it was quite difficult to work out whether it was the marketing department or the public relations department behind certain things such as events. I found it difficult to distinguish the organisations ‘owned’ channels and the ones ‘bought’ by the V&A but after further research and through looking at their website this became more evident. Further on into the week I had my first PR workshop which started with a task to write about my style of writing in a time slot of 5 minutes. This related to the task in my PR Professionalism seminar which was to figure out my own learning style, and work on both my strengths and weaknesses. This task has actually helped me with writing this blog as instead of procrastinating over what I’m going to say I just start writing and then I find it’s easier for ideas to flow. Later on I was introduced to writing press releases and was intrigued to know whether I would be taught how to write them in the same style that was used at The Fashion Retail Academy. Learning the inverted pyramid writing was new to me and I found this an easy structure to follow along with the 5 w’s (who, what, when ,where and why). However, when I had to find my own example of a good and bad press release I really struggled with finding a bad one and actually finding websites with a press department. ...ugly it was difficult to look at him. Another person began having painful problems with his elbows and knees due to excessive bone growth. And another person came down with a terrible case of diabetes. Growth hormone is no joke and I urge athletes to avoid it at all costs. Even under a doctor's supervision you can run into problems that will last you a lifetime. It's just not worth it.” This is a very destructive drug, one should not have to search in the talk pages to see information like this. Though this individual did not support his claims with any form of evidence, other than his own word, one cannot help but feel the sympathy he has for his friends. Here we see the subtle side effects that were described in the beginning of this paper take a different turn. These seem real, no longer typical side effects that one would obtain using any other drug. Though this person may not be suffering from the drug directly, he is affected by the cause. Dumit describes the idea of a more powerful method of delivery than straight facts, “Although a physician’s recommendation may be highly credible, it doesn’t carry the power of empathy and understanding that a fellow sufferer typically conveys” (Dumit 83) Here we see that a sufferer understand first had what the effect of a drug can really do. By simply reading the main wiki page we don’t get that feeling of danger from the drug. But once we enter the talk page, the dangers become real. Dumit emphasizes the idea that a user can......

Blog Assignment

...BLOG ASSIGNMENT INTRODUCTION This is a blog assignment where we get to create our own blogs and use social networks to get audience to our blogs. Here I will be giving background information of my blog and what forms I used to get it out there as a marketing strategy. I will also give a brief report on the success of my blog. My Blog named second chances is a platform for me to share my life experiences with other women and be a light to young women so they could learn from them. Life takes us through so many phases and with this blog I share and teach how we can sustain ourselves by tackling life issues using the bible. Second chances came to being because of my situation which I believe is a matter of a second chance. I thought by this name I will give hope to others that indeed God does offer second chances. This is how I introduced myself in the blog: I am a mother, a wife and a student at University of Cape Town. I believe in second chances as I am a testimony of that. Everything that I am is through the grace of the Almighty and therefore I am humbled. I was in a stage in my life when I was about to give up but God stretched His hand over me, so now I can’t stop but sing songs of praise. With this chance provided to me I intend to be a good server of God by giving free lessons about life to my fellow christens.   The blog is about my daily encounters during my journey of life, I talk about almost anything be it news, stories or lessons that needs to be told.......

Blog Evaluation

...Blog Evaluation Trident University 23 June 2013 I am going to talk to you about a growing issue which is plaguing the United States it is eating away at the very heart of our great nation. When we hear about this topic it is primarily known as women’s issues that some good men help out with. This is not a women’s issue this is a man’s issue, when we as men start to turn a blind eye we are just as guilty as the person committing the crime. The issue I am talking about is sexual violence, when given this assignment I had already been following a blog called Project Unbreakable. You see about six months ago I became a sexual assault victim advocate and I am nationally registered with the National Organization for Victim Assistance, although I work with military personnel I am certified to work with the civilian population. This essay is not only to evaluate a blog website but to ensure that the brave women who share their stories openly are heard and not silenced. First let’s look at the writer of this blog and when she started blogging, the blog was started October two thousand and eleven. The writer of this blog is Grace Brown she is now twenty years old and is a photographer and public speaker from Massachusetts. Ms. Brown does extensive work with survivors of sexual assault, capturing them in photos holding a quote from their attacker. Ms. Brown has currently photographed over four hundred survivors and...

...Susan's Blog and PwC’s Unique People Experience Initiative Q1. What aspects of active listening are suggested in Susan's blog and the UPE initiative? Active listening requires the listener to understand, interpret, and evaluate what he or she heard. The ability to listen actively can improve personal relationships through reducing conflicts, strengthening cooperation and fostering understanding. In Susan’s blog, same concepts are applied setting up a satellite women’s network, running a large number of internal events, some targeting to skills development, some informative and some purely on social. UPE initiative is a philosophical approach to developing talent, instead of treating everyone the same, the firm has customized its approach to fit the diversity of its people and create a culture. Q2. What aspects of constructive feedback are suggested in Susan's blog and the UPE initiative? Constructive criticism means starting from a different position. Your criticism should be factual, impersonal and timely. The value of changing their behavior must also be clear. In Susan’s blog, the first component of UPE understands those different needs, by assigning a partner/leader who is charged with getting to know him or her professionally and personally, including those aspects such as race, gender, and work-life issues that can affect experiences with the firm. Q3.What aspects of supporting appropriated self-disclosure are suggested in Susan's blog and the UPE......

Blog Paper Communication

...The Blogging Styles of Yours Truly Larina Bridenstine PHI/221 8-30-2014 Dr. Steve Wyre The Blogging Styles Of Yours Truly Part One Well hello all you wonderful people out there!!! Today I want to talk about critical thinking. I know, why Larina would you want to talk about this? Well it is easy. We have way too many hot heads out there that do not use this skill enough. We have people who have road rage and don’t think. We have those over protective momma bears out there that well… they just go off on the any big bad wolf who threatens their cubs. So lets get started! Well what is critical thinking? Critical thinking is that mode of thinking - about any subject, content, or problem - in which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully taking charge of the structures inherent in thinking and imposing intellectual standards upon them. (2013) In layman’s terms it means we need to really think about what we are going to say or do or say. What are some of the characteristics of a good critical thinker? Well the first one I would like to talk about is Analytical skills . This is where you can analyze and have logical support for your arguments or beliefs. For example: Johnny down the street won’t come outside to play. Well I bet if you get Betty Lou to come out and wash the car Johnny will be sure to come out. See I looked at the problem and put a logical reason to it. The second one I have for you all is communication and literacy......

Blogs

...In a short span of five years, blogs have invaded our culture and left an indelible mark on society. From Politics to Journalism, blogs are reshaping our notion of how content is created and information is disseminated. Before the popularity of blogging and the internet the main sources of news were television and newspapers. The content and perspective of the news was decided by the media. It was easy for them to stretch the truth, omit important issues, portray problems as more or less serious than reality, and show the point of view that they wanted the public to see. The internet changed the way our news was delivered, and blogs in particular have affected the news industry greatly. Unlike before where some executive decided what the country should and shouldn't be told about, it is now possible for any individual to publish news on the internet. This has changed the news industry dramatically from a consumers point of view. The executives can still try to control which stories are published and which point of view to portray, but online we can find the real truths more easily. Not only can we find out what happened from various view points, we can read individual people's thoughts and feelings about the stories. We can see what various experts think about situations and events, as well as the general public opinions. Another benefit for consumers is that we can filter the types of news we choose to read. Television news often shows world events, sporting events and a......

...Claralyn Hapin COM33 Reaction Paper Film: Sana Dati directed by Jerrold Tarog Sana Dati tells the story of Andrea and her past revisited at the day of her wedding. I never expected that this film could be incredibly amazing. I would like to commend the director of this film who not only directed but also wrote, edited, and scored the film. Tayog made use of the combination of his skills to come up with such a brilliant film. It is not film of a typical love story with a happy ending that we usually see, but a love story mirroring reality. /for me, the simplicity of this film made it to have more impact to the audience. Everything is natural because of how the story was put into action. The acting is heartfelt, the script is striking, the cinematography is beautiful, and the direction is simply masterful. Somehow this film is an anti-love story but I can say that this is what reality may bring us. We may not agree but it is communicable because we may also experience it. Sana Dati is not a film about winners. The heart of Sana Dati lies with the losers, the ones we tend to forget when the most intense statements about love have already been declared. It is about Andrea, whose life goes on despite the tragedy of her one true love perishing. It is about Dennis, who is about to marry a girl who does not love him. It is about Andrew, who stirs trouble in somebody else’s romantic affairs. If I were at Andrea’s situation I would also do what she did. I felt the pain of the......

...24-hour challenge of Internet disconnection Last Sunday, I had an experience which I challenged myself – I asked myself not to communicate via the Internet for 24 hours in order to see how I would feel without contacting with the world through the Internet. I decided to stay disconnected with the social media in a day, the challenge started at 8am on 14/03/2015. This blog entry is to show my activities within the challenge. 8.00am (14/03/2015) I woke up and turned off wifi and mobile data completely. I did not turned off my cellphone because I love taking pictures, I want to capture moments of life – therefore I can use camera of my cellphone to make it. 8.30am It was considered early to me to wake up at this time. I got out of bed and did my personal hygiene in the morning. Turned back to my room, I decided to clean my room after busy weeks with schoolwork. Normally, I use my phone to check out my Facebook and messages, but I did not do it. I was quite satisfied to see my neat room. 9.15am I was hungry, I made instant noodle as a breakfast. I started feeling uncomfortable without using social media. Well, I really wanted to make it, so I continued the challenge. 10.00am After eating and cleaning stuff in the kitchen, I played some nice and sweet pieces of music on the piano. I really enjoyed it and did not think of what was happening in the social media. I played for 2 hours which made me have a calm mind. 12 noon I felt that I should check out my media account......

...to feel a part of ''us.'' Yet a sense of ''us'' brings with it a sense of ''them.'' Human beings will give a lot, including their lives, for a group they feel part of -- for ''us,'' as in ''our nation'' or ''our religion.'' They will also harm those labeled ''them,'' including taking their lives. Far as genocide and persecution seem from fraternity hazings and Cal versus Stanford, college tribes may shed light on the way the mind works with those other sorts of groups, the ones that shape and misshape the world, like nation, race, creed, caste or culture. After all, a college campus is full of people inventing a sense of ''us'' and a sense of ''them.'' As one junior at the University of California, Los Angeles, told her school paper before a game against the University of Southern California: ''School spirit is important because it gives us a sense of belonging and being a part of something bigger. Besides,'' she said, ''U.S.C. sucks in every way.'' In an e-mail interview, Professor Sapolsky writes that ''Stanford students (and faculty) do tons of this, at every possible hierarchical level.'' For instance, he says, they see Stanford versus Harvard, and Stanford versus the University of California at Berkeley. ''Then, within Stanford, all the science wonks doing tribal stuff to differentiate themselves from the fuzzies -- the humanities/social science types. Then within the sciences, the life science people versus the chemistry/physics/math geeks.''......

...update about Blogspot to Google’s Security Blog http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.com/2015/09/https-support-coming-to-blogspot.html. Since 2008, we've worked to encrypt the connections between our users and Google servers. Over the years we've announced that Search, Gmail, Drive, and many other products have encrypted connections by default, and most recently, we've made a similar announcement for our ads products. In this same vein, today we're expanding on the HTTPS Everywhere mission and beginning an initial rollout of HTTPS support for Blogspot. HTTPS is a cornerstone of internet security as it provides several important benefits: it makes it harder for bad actors to steal information or track the activities of blog authors and visitors, it helps check that visitors open the correct website and aren’t being redirected to a malicious location, and it helps detect if a bad actor tries to change any data sent from Blogger to a blog visitor. While this initial rollout won’t support all of our Blogger users, we wanted to take the first step to make HTTPS available for Blogspot; for those users who want to try it early. We’re rolling this out gradually and Blogspot authors interested in enabling HTTPS support can begin opting-in today. Simply log into http://www.blogger.com, click on the blog you’d like to make HTTPS enabled, navigate to the Settings page, and select "yes" for "HTTPS Availability". Unfortunately, blogs with custom domains are not supported......

...1. Post One: Write a narrative from your school experience that encapsulates an important lesson you and perhaps others were able to learn. How did/has this experience shape (d) you? Refer to Chapter Three for ideas to help generate your blog ideas. Chapter three presents various lessons that a student like me can be able to learn from and relate to. My school experience in is rather diverse since living in a multicultural city like Miami, I interact with people from different ethnic backgrounds and learn a lot from them. Their languages, beliefs, traditions, culture in general. There are several experiences that emerge from this chapter that encapsulate how I feel and what I have learned through time; but the experience that seriously shaped me as a student and even though the story is somehow sad, taught me a great lesson about hope and never giving up. This was when I had already given up going to college after almost not being able to graduate from high school since I had to start working full time at 16 years old to be able to economically help my family. I couldn’t bare so many responsibilities being so immature. The intensiveness of the work and school at such a young age truly made a big difference in my life. It made me a more responsible and mature person. I had apportioned my time to play an important role in shaping my family at the same time playing a role as a student and as an employee. Just like soldiers in the field, I have struggled a great deal to......

Blog Research Paper

...I observed a Subway sandwich restaurant on November 20, 2015 in Citrus Heights between the hours of 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. I choose this time because it represents the peak hours of operation and would provide me with the best possible data for this blog. The customer will be asked what kind of bread they would like and depending on the order, the bread may be toasted, which would increase the time. After the bread station, the vegetable station would be next, then the meats station, and finally the condiments and final wrapping. The process would finish with the cashier at the far end of the assembly line. As I entered the establishment, there was a small line in front of me with approximately 3-4 people in front of me. The four people ahead of me ordered a total of five sandwiches (one person ordered two) and took a total of 8:25 minutes. This translates to about 5 sandwiches / 8:25 minutes = 101 seconds (about 1:41 minutes per sandwich). I purposefully ordered a simple sandwich off the “number” menu and did not order a custom sandwich. I wanted to see how fast they can make the sandwich as a basis of measurement. As my turn came up, I placed my order and waited for the process to begin. It took me 1:20 minutes to order and pay for my basic sandwich. The problem really starts to arise when there are many people in line and breads that have to be toasted. Toasting bread takes about 45 seconds and adds a great amount time to overall process. All the orders were ordered from......

...Counterterrorism Blog offers itself as "unique, multi-expert … one-stop gateway to the counterterrorism community." Entries are soberly reported right–leaning comments on a wide range of terrorist groups, global terrorism issues and the war on terror. The site is especially good at raising and weighing terrorist and related threat issues. Inside Iraq Inside Iraq blogs are written by Iraqi journalists who are working for McClatchy Newspaper (an American syndicate). The bloggers from Baghdad and the provinces share what their lives are like in the shadow of an incomplete war. They offer a wonderful supplement to the news, whether commenting on Iraqi politics, their kids' accomplishments, or their views of Iraq's past and future. Afghanistan Conflict Monitor The Afghanistan Conflict Monitor collects article on Afghanistan and Pakistan from the point of view of war and security. Attacks, plans, Taliban and Al Qaeda activities, and news about deployed forces from Canada, the United States and elsewhere are frequent items. This is a good site to gather up-to-date news coming out of Afghanistan. Iraq the Model Iraq the Model is a well-read blog on war, coalition moves, and regional conflict, judging by its comments. These lively comments can make it worth a trip. The origins of the blog are obscure though. Links out are to well-known right wing commentators and American military sites, such as CENTCOM.
