1. Identify some of the established recruiting techniques that apparently underlie Trilogy’s unconventional approach to attracting talent.

One recruiting technique they rely upon heavily is college recruiting. They want the freshest and least experience employees in the workforce. They then fly their top recruits and their spouses to Austin, to conduct an on-site visit. While the candidates and their spouses are there for 3 days, top management takes them out on the town to do fun things after a day full of interviews. They also scour computer science departments, looking for ambitious overachievers.

2 What particular elements of Trilogy’s culture most likely appeal to the kind of employee’s it seeks? How does it convey those elements to job prospects?

Being that they tend to recruit recent college graduates, the average age of their employees are 26. There is no dress code, they can make their own hours, and there’s a well-stocked kitchen. They also have on company sponsored events including retreats in Las Vegas and Hawaii and nights out at a dance club. Aside from discussing these elements during the interview process, while the employees and their spouses are there for the 3 days top management takes them out. They do fun things like laser tag, rollerblading, and mountain biking.

3. Would Trilogy be an appealing employer for you? Why or why not? If not, what would it take for you to accept a job offer from Trilogy?

I don’t feel that Trilogy would an appealing employer for me, at this point in my life. I’m 34 and a single mother, and the company, while may be fun, is very demanding. The culture and outings are designed for a younger crowd. For me to take a job offer from Trilogy I would be looking for more flexibility and a more diversified culture. Being a single mother, I need that flexibility and it sounds like the hours are long…...

I believe that the American Perception of the Cold War is very different from what was going on. The first person I interviewed was my father in law Dan Faris. Dan said “ To know about the Cold War all you have to know about is the Iron Curtain cause they could be synonymous. This is very true the Iron Curtain is defined by the Eastern and Western separation of Europe by Communism. This is what started the Cold War. During the European Financial Collapse people would kling to whatever promises people could make them to get them out of their poverty. Stalin came in and promised a better tomorrow and communism spread. The United States saw this as a threat and they wanted to stop Communism therefore Truman employed Marshall and henceforth Marshall aid was offered to the people in those European countries. After completing the assigned activity I learned that there were a few points of evidence that demonstrated the problem of antibiotic resistance. I also found recorded data of methods that have been successful in decreasing the number of antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains and some methods that were not so successful. Since the 1930’s antibiotics have been administered to treat several types of infectious diseases. The unearthing discovery of antibiotics was a phenomenon. Death rates decreased by the thousands and there was hope for the people who would contract pneumonia or tuberculosis. However just like most happy stories there are trials and tribulations. One of the approaches that were unsuccessful was antibiotic rotation on resistance. The method was instead of prescribing of a steady prescription of antibiotics to an individual at a constant, the doctor could rotate the prescription of antibiotics on occasion. So in other words the patient would interchange between antibiotics sporadically. The trial experiment was two separate groups. The control group was prescribed a single antibiotic during a short visit at the hospital and the rotation group was prescribed three different antibiotics on an alternating basis. ...fulfill my science requirement, I thoroughly enjoy learning about the different systems we have on Earth and how we as students can apply and observe what we learn in class. I was first of all quite impressed with the facility and the amount of land (350 acres) that was gifted to VCU. Being one of the first buildings in Virginia to be classified, as LEED Platinum proof is very exciting. Lots of work went in to making this a green building. Being a design student, I appreciate the relationship between nature and architecture while maintaining a pleasing design aesthetic. This building uses geothermal energy, which provides efficient heating and cooling while promoting sustainable energy use. What I found most interesting was the amount of natural light the building is able to use during the day. Looking up at the ceiling of the two classrooms you were able to view the sky that is used instead of florescent lights. Water as everyone knows is most important, especially for the Rice Center. Even rainwater has a purpose, which is to be used to flush the toilets. More importantly, the vast amount of water around the center serves a purpose of learning and exploring. Because the Rice Center is located on the James River, there is easy access to boats and canoes. While I wish I was better dressed and up for the challenge, many of my fellow classmates were able to go canoeing. Richards felt Lineberry was slow and stupid and was eventually transferred to manufacturing. Howard did not get off easy on having a helper, Mel Cutler replaced Richards. The book has a number of definitions for the term Bilingual. Edwards (1994), states that virtually all people were bilingual in nature. He stated that anyone who can communicate few words of another language is bilingual. This is to say that for example, if someone went on holiday to another country and could exchange a simple greeting in the foreign language, then he would be considered to be bilingual. The writer of the article states that the definition by Edwards is far from what most people consider to be bilingual because most people define bilingualism as the ability to fluently speak two languages. The problem with the Marshall’s statement is that he has not explained how he found out that most people define Bilingualism to be the ability to speak two languages fluently. He simply assumes this without giving conclusive evidence. It would have been better if he would have conducted a research or had the opinions of people on what they considered to be bilingual and would conclude based on the response by the people.
