Everyone Is Human

...Everyone is human By Sasha Smallwood English Composition 106 Everyone is judged at one point in his or her life. One person might be judged by the color of their skin while others are judged due to something as simple as the clothes that cover their back. Does anyone really stop to think how it affects the inside of a person who is ridiculed about something such as a birth defect in spite of how they may my look on the outside? What if this person is a child that has to go through everyday worried about what jokes might be made that day regarding his or her appearance. What does it say about our society when people are oblivious to their own flaws and have jokes to ridicule someone else about something they have no control over. Through child hood until the present day I have maintained a friendship with a special person in my life that was born with a disease, called Hairy Nevigh, which tremendously affects her physical appearance. She had moles that cover all of her skin except her eyes and mouth. Growing up I always considered her to be very brave whenever someone would point, stare, and ask her “Do you have chickenpox?” She would always smile and reply to them that she was simply born that way and that they were moles. Of course the children were inquisitive at that point and proceeded to ask questions concerning their welfare such......

A Theater for Everyone

...A Theater for Everyone When a play is performed, the theater is filled with spectators of all races, genders, and backgrounds. Most theaters target the vast majority of the populous using broad ideas and plots we’ve seen before in movies and other theaters. However, since the 1960’s a great number of theaters have been formed devoted to plays by and about specific ethnic, gender, and political groups. These theaters have many different purposes and the plays performed are altered in ways they may reach different people. Plays make money by corralling people in a theater and appealing to their senses in different ways. But, these plays and theaters must attract as many different people as possible in order to make a good profit. Plays like Twelve Angry Men have been altered in some theaters to incorporate women roles in order to appeal to a specific gender. Seeing as though fifty percent of the world is composed of women, a play with all male roles seems a bit outdated. Twelve Angry Men has had it’s name altered to Twelve Angry Jurors in order to add women roles to the jury and even the main character. Gender is a big factor in playwriting. Women enjoy plays as much as men do and diversifying roles is a good way to bring more women into the theater thus increasing profit. Profit is not the only reason for reaching out to specific genders. The Weird Sisters Women’s Theater Collective is based in Austin, Texas and is dedicated to promoting women in Theater and other arts...

Is College for Everyone

...Is College for Everyone? 8/24/2012 In my life I have heard the question asked again and again ‘is college for everyone’? No matter how many times you engage in this discussion, you will always receive several opinions (in most cases each opinion will have good points). I will discuss the difference of needing a college education and wanting a college education. I will also bring to light why I feel a college education is in fact right for everyone. You may not agree with my opinion on this matter and if that is still your stance after reading my views I can only say this: “to each his own”. When we talk about a college education we are referring to higher learning. It is my belief that everyone wants to do the very best they can in any endeavor or just in life. I do not believe there are people who want to purposely fail. It is because of this that I have the opinion that a college education is for everyone. The reason we have this debate is because a college education is optional. Why don’t we discuss whether or not a kindergarten, elementary, middle school, or high school education is for everyone? I think it is universally accepted that the education received in all the grades below college level, give us the foundation to enter society and become a productive person. If you add to this, the hunger that sits in us all to learn more, we have to believe that a college education is a must. However, before we can move forward in this discussion we must first remove......

Is College for Everyone

...Is College For Everyone? Daverick Aguilar RES/351 July 14, 2014 Is College For Everyone? Introduction I understand this is a business research paper, but I’d like to write about things that, I believe, are questions that make me think or topics that I feel passionate about. With that being said, I am writing about the true importance of college degrees. The businesses involve college or the education system. What is the American Dream? Originally, the American Dream is every individuals’ right to pursue happiness and a better life for themselves and their future generations. Today, that achievement is still alive however it now has a new definition. For the most part, the American Dream today is defined through tangible, material things. My personal belief still lies with the original, but since I have expensive taste it does involve material things. Now my question is how do I achieve this so-called American Dream? I understand that education is important and that along with education comes with a comfortable salary, but I believe in the possibility to achieve my ambitious desires through various forms that don’t involve a college degree. In this research, I delve into the importance of college degrees in today’s society along with considerations of oppositions. Article 1 – Why Go To College? Is College for Everyone

...Each decade, Thirty million American children enter high school but only six million of them ever receive a college degree. The remaining twenty four million kids either drop out; complete high school and enter the work force; or attend a community college or university for a couple of years. (TK) College is not for everyone; student’s mindsets are based on parents thinking, the success rate in entrepreneurs vs. technical, universities vs. IT schools, and how college doesn’t equal success. (TK) For a lot of people, going to a four-year college seems like an automatic choice when they graduate from high school. The reason is obvious – higher income. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, a bachelor’s degree accounted for an average of $16,900 in additional income per year compared to a high school diploma ($30,000 versus $46,900). (TK) Over a 30-year career in the workforce, that’s more than a $500,000 difference in earnings. These numbers may not paint the whole picture, however. Due to the increasingly high costs associated with a college education, as well as other drawbacks, more and more people have been considering trade school as an education alternative. (TK) Trade School vs. College: Drawbacks to College Education Length: Four (or More) Years vs. Two Years For starters, a bachelor’s degree typically takes four years of study, which means that people who enter the workforce after receiving their bachelor’s degree aren’t doing so until age......

...the shop and stated that he would like to purchase the golf clubs the contract had not been formed, because the shopkeeper is well within his rights to refuse the customer, even though the shopkeeper had the product in the window for purchase. This would not be the case if the product in the window had been labelled as an offer, in which case the customer could then enter the shop and agree to the offer. So, the golf clubs in the window was merely a willingness to negotiate. The same can be said for the legal case Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain vs Boots the Chemists (1952). This is a case where determining the point of the “sale” was crucial. In this case it was determined that the goods on display within the pharmacy were a willingness to negotiate and not an offer, and there was only acceptance when the customer took the product to the register to pay and the pharmacist then agreed to sell that product to the customer. Because of laws that require listed poisons to be supervised by a registered pharmacist, that sale could be refused at the pharmacist’s discretion. 2. a) A restrictive covenant is something that can prohibit certain actions should a person want to withdraw from an agreement. And it must be considered to be reasonable in order for it to be up held in court. In the case of Tom and ABC Motors it has stated in his contract that he cannot work for any other car company for 5 years. The courts would rule that this is unfair because it is too broad of a...
