Organizational Structure

There are three basic organizational structures. The simple structure is designed for small organizations. The functional structure is for medium-sized companies with several products. Finally, a divisional structure is for large companies with multiple product lines (Wheelen & Hunger, 2010). A corporation's structure can be a company's strength as well as weakness. If the correct structure is chosen and developed, then the firm can prosper and grow. If the wrong structure is selected a company may have problems operating until the structure is corrected.
A corporation's structure gets its strength from its foundation. If the company is structured correctly, following one of the three above mentioned structures will help it operate efficiently and support some of the corporations strategies. If it is the wrong structure, then the corporation may crumble because individuals may not know their particular role within the organization.
Corporate culture is where organization's reflect the values instilled on passing generations from the founders. A strength of culture would be the organization's ability to relate to each other and follow the beliefs, expectations, and values of the founders (Wheelen & Hunger, 2010). A weakness is the exact opposite. If employees don't understand the culture they may not be able to respond appropriately to supervisors. The organization's culture may dictate how information is communicated, feedback is given, and performance is managed (The Sergay Group, Ltd, 2012).
The military, as an organization, has a very large corporate structure. A structure weakness within the Army could relate to individual Soldiers not understanding the structure and where they fit into it. ...I am extremely happy and surprised about the results I received on the personality quiz. The first career that came up on the interest profiler was Medical Assistant. The next were a Social & Human Service Assistants, Pharmacy technicians, registered nurses, secretaries and administrative Assistant. Most of everything that was listed was what I was looking into. I was looking into going to school for Social & Human Services at Penn State but I changed my mind quickly because that wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do with my life. I was looking at a Pharmacy Technician but that wasn’t exactly in my mind field either. I was stuck on Medical Assistant but couldn’t find a school that allowed me to do the classes online while I could work and attend my clinical at a hospital or wherever they are held. I finally stumbled upon Kaplan and so glad I did. That is why I am so surprised from the interest profiler that Medical Assistant was listed first. Since I do want to be a pediatrician later down the road I know I am in the correct career filed to obtain that career.
