Nail-biting Screed

Find a comfortable position either laying on your back or sitting down…Rest your hands on your lap with both palms facing up and close your eyes.Start to become aware of your breathing…in and out…in and out.. begin to focus on slowing the rhythm of your breathing…Feel your chest and abdomen expanding and contracting ..in and out..in and out…Let all the stress and tension dissolve away as you relax deeper and deeper with each breath. You feel a small circle of light and pleasant warmth radiating just above you scalp…you feel this warmth spreading slowly down you face… Your forehead is becoming relaxed and smooth…feel your eyebrows resting downwards and your eyelids getting heavier and heavier…As the warm light moves down your face, and around the backs of your ears allow your temples to relax… Your jaw becomes slack and relaxed releasing all tension, allowing your mouth to slightly open…Allow your tongue to relax.
Enjoy the feeling of relaxation you are experiencing.. as the warmth passes down your neck flowing over your shoulders making them loose and relaxed…let all the tension dissolve and lift away from you…Your shoulders are so relaxed they are slowly sinking downwards as they become heavier and heavier…
Enjoy the feeling of complete relaxation you are experiencing. Notice your breathing as you continue to take slow deep breaths as your chest rises and sinks…rises and sinks…Feel the relaxing warmth moving down your arms, past your elbows and all the way down to your wrists becoming and relaxed… All the muscles is your arms are getting looser and looser..giving up their hold. Let the warm flow radiate all the way down to your hand and down to your finger tips, expelling all the tensions out through each fingertip.. Your whole body is now so relaxed.. every muscle has released all tension leaving you completely refreshed and relaxed……...

Paint My Nails

...really stood out to me in the poem, I Shall Paint My Nails Red, was the acts of a woman talking about feminine things that woman like to do to change up their appearance. After thoroughly analyzing this poem I came to the realization that it was much deeper than that. Every line of this poem is a distinct statement filled with self-expression and confidence. I Shall Paint My Nails Red by Carole Satyamurti, takes the simple act of painting your nails and shows the meaning behind it. This poem hits home to me because painting my nails is something I enjoy doing with my grandmother. My grandmother has never gone a day without having her nails painted, and after reading this poem I understand why. To me, womanism is the main theme that Satyamurti is trying to portray in this poem and it is being shown through beauty, strength, and passion. Beauty can represent a numerous amount of things, and in this poem Satyamurti does a remarkable job at capturing the true meaning of beauty. “Because I am proud of my hands” (Satyamurti 2), after I broke this poem down piece by piece, the imagery in this line caught my eye. I relate the pride she takes in her hands after painting them to my grandmother and how I never see her go a day without having her nails painted. Although painting your nails is a simple thing, it makes you feel good about yourself. My grandmother walks with confidence every day and though it may not be just because of her nails, I am certain that it does play some sort......

There are some children, however, whose challenging behaviours may increase and result in injury to self or others, cause damage to property, interfere with acquiring new skills and/or social isolation. This report investigates the possible causes for challenging behaviors (focusing primarily on tantrums and biting) in infants, toddlers and young children and positive child guidance strategies that are important as the basis for intervention and prevention. It is important to intervene in such a way that appropriate, pro-social behaviors are taught, modeled, and reinforced to ensure lifelong success. Nine Inch Nails Compare and Contrast Paper

...Critical Thinking Worksheet Teresa Horton Com / 170 April 8, 2012 Dr. Laura Wilson Which Version Of “Hurt” Would You Prefer? Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash The song “Hurt” written by Trent Reznor and originally performed by his band Nine Inch Nails is a melancholy, haunting song. Nine Inch Nails’ version was recorded in 1994 and rerecorded and released by Johnny Cash in 2002. Each of the performers has a style, which some people would argue is at opposite ends of the spectrum of popular music; one is what is referred to as “Industrial Rock”, the other is country. Indeed, the musical genres are diverse; however, the song “Hurt” transcends the boundaries between old and new, hard and soft, and especially the differences and similarities between these men. Nine Inch Nails is known for their industrial rock sound which combines synthesizers and percussion to produce sounds that remind you of a steel yard in Pennsylvania. This is probably a testament to the fact that the bands’ lead singer, Trent Reznor was born and raised near those steel yards (“The Nine Inch Nails Wiki,” 2012). Johnny Cash’s version speaks to those familiar with growing up during a rough time or not having much; people considered the down-trodden. Growing up in a religious family in Arkansas seems ingrained in the way Cash performs the song. Johnny lived a hard life on a cotton farm (“Johnny Cash,” 2012). Reznor and Cash both graduated from high......

Nail Tech

...Since I was in about the seventh grade, I have always loved getting my nails done. I loved watching all the steps; measuring the acrylic nail to the natural nail, the scrub that quickly softens your feet and how perfect and effortlessly the nail polish was applie I mostly loved watching how the people who did them made the process seam so effortless. That’s what I want. I want someone to write about me and ask me how I became so good at what I do. The smile I get when I walk in and the even bigger smile I walk out with is amazing and I want to be the reason behind someone’s wide smile and healthy, pretty nails. Unfortunately, I have little to no experience with Nail Technology, but I am always eager to learn. If my first choice of being a teacher doesn’t fully work as I plan it to, I will always have an additional place, although, I don’t see it as backup. I believe learning the ins and outs of Nail Tech, will not only help me, fully understand what’s happening to me at the salon and appreciate it more but begin to look into jobs in the field and eventually my own shop. For my near college future I would like to attend Montgomery Community College for my first two years and then transfer to a university in the south, where I’m originally from, and also where I would love to live and have an infinitely growing career. This course puts me at a little advantage because it gives me a little background knowledge and experience before taking it in college, hopefully pushing to......

Sony's Betamax, Long Thought Dead, Officially Gets Last Nail in Its Coffin

...Sony's Betamax, long thought dead, officially gets last nail in its coffin Sony finally acknowledges that the world didn't embrace its rival to the videocassette, years after that format faded from the market, too. The first US-market Betamax video recorder, the 1982 Sony SL-2000 portable. It's sitting on top of a TT-2000 timer unit. Rafe Needleman/CNET Sometimes the tape keeps going after you thought it had run out. But three decades? It turns out that Sony is still making videocassette tapes for its Betamax video recording systems, largely vanquished from the gadget scene in the 1980s. Not for much longer, though. Sony announced Wednesday that it will stop producing Betamax tapes in March of next year. "This will make the final shipment of all our memory media for Betamax," Sony said in a Japanese-language statement. Tech standards come and go, and for the most part, Betamax has been long gone. In its heyday, it was at the center of a cultural moment that may have been the first time consumers really had to worry about competing tech standards. Its battle with the rival VHS standard, the eventual winner, was a momentous one in an era when a television set was probably the most significant electronic device in many households. Sony introduced the Betamax format in 1975, a year before rival Japanese firm JVC unveiled the VHS tape. Both allowed recording and playback of TV shows and movies. Although many people considered Betamax to be a superior......

Red Nails

...I Shall Paint My Nails Red is a short 10 lined prose piece written by Carole Satyamurti. I liked this poem because it is simplistic but can easily be analyzed with a deeper message. I noticed that a few of the line draw attention to a women’s normal role in society and the household. Because a bit of color is a public service Because my lover will be surprised Initially I was not sure if the author wrote this as a way to almost empower women or to simply say that they can wear whatever eccentric bright colors they want. Individuals, in society, are easily bounded by gender roles and expectation including suggested attire and overall appearance. So maybe, this red nail polish is symbolic for a rebellious act against the expectation for women during this author’s time period. Then I asked why the author choose red instead of bright blue, purple, or even black. But the color red may be associated with any type of stimulation, excitement, energy, beauty, lust, and many more. With the latter knowledge I support the claim that red is used as an act against the women’s role in different domains of life. In the last line the author writes “Because it is reversible.” I thought it was strategic to put this line at the end because it was short but this line concludes the the poem and sends a separate message on its own. Individual, women or men, are frequently judged my actions or impulsive behaviors that are temporary. This made me think of my parents response when I got my nosed......

Nail Science for Nail Services

...Nail Disease 1 - Paronychia Paronychia is a bacterial infection that occurs around the nails. The area around the nail fold can be inflamed, red and swollen and resulting in pustule cuticles. The main symptom is a painful, red, swollen area around the nail, often at the cuticle. There may be pus-filled blisters especially with a bacterial infection. It can be caused by injury to the area eg biting off or picking a hangnail or from trimming or pushing back the cuticle. It is also common among persons with diabetes and those who have their hands in water for long periods of time. Bacteria cause the condition to occur suddenly. Nail changes may occur. For example, the nail may look detached, abnormally shaped, or have an unusual colour. A medical practitioner can usually diagnose this condition by simply looking at the sore skin. Soaking the nail in hot water two to three times a day helps reduce swelling and pain. Antibiotics can be prescribed. In severe cases a medical practitioner may cut and drain the sore with a sharp instrument. Part of the nail may need to be removed. If it is fungal paronychia, antifungal medicine maybe prescribed. To prevent paronychia: ✓ Care for the nails and the skin around the nails properly. ✓ Avoid damaging the nails or fingertips. Because the nails grow slowly, an injury can last for months. ✓ Do not bite or pick the nails. ✓ Protect the nails from exposure to detergents and chemicals by using protective......

The Calvary Nails of Rock Bottom

...Roberts, Joe ITDS 1145 – American Jesus Summer 2012 The Calvary Nails of Rock Bottom In many Alcoholics Anonymous meetings the term “rock bottom” is used as often as the word recovery. In the painting “Calvary,” the artists presents to the audience two characters in a small room with objects of sinful desires. What is striking however, is the two very different men portrayed. A tattooed, pierced, and rough looking man is administering drugs intravenously into his arm. Or is it his arm? Behind this character, worthy of an intervention I might add, stands a bearded man dressed in white who is looking up at the ceiling with agony on his face. It is unclear whether or not it is this man’s arm, or the man in the chair. It is important to note that both arms have tattoos. While this could be argued as both men’s arm, let’s zero in on another detail that strikes at the heart of the audience – the face of the man dressed in white. First of all, who is this man? I asked my daughter, who is only 6 years old, to identify the man in white. Her immediate response was “Jesus.” How is it that we have been groomed to establish a connection with these images of visual piety? Is it because I take my daughter to church twice a week and have other images of this man Jesus in my home? Surely, this is not the case. So let’s assume that because this man is dressed in white, resembling pure and innocent, and he resembles many other forms of art depicting Jesus, that this man is indeed Jesus. ...
