They impact reimbursement, especially in regard to Medicare and Medicaid. Pay-for-performance has effects on both the quality and efficiency of health care delivery, although its overall impact it a matter of debate. There are studies that show improvement in quality of care in some areas, and others that show no difference in outcomes.
