One of the many challenges facing higher education today is the declining retention rate

found throughout all forms of institutions. It is estimated that approximately fifty percent of

students leave higher education without being in receipt of an earned degree (Anderson, 1997).

Education has an effect on both the individual and society as attaining educational credentials

provides the individual with greater job security. As funding for higher education continues to

decline, institutions of higher education must maintain students in order to prevent financial

struggles. In order to prevent the retention rate from declining, having an effective enrollment

management is imperative as institutions continue to come up with new solutions of the

retention rate declines (Swail, 2004). It is well established that students who enter college with

high GPA and test scores such as ACT and SAT fair better than students with weaker scores in

graduating from college (Tinto, 2000). There will also need to be a focus on minority students

who although have increased in numbers attending post-secondary education, continue to lead

the nation in the amount of students who drop out each year (Tinto, 2000). There are several

factors that contribute to the retention decline that include academic preparedness, campus

climate , commitment to goals and institution, social and academic integration and with the

cost of attendance increasing, financial aid (Salinitri, 2005). Although there are several

consequences of student departure, administrators must identity solutions and practices in

order to curb the retention rate decline through technology, data, theories, methods and a

Retention Policy

This applies to submissions for which a final disposition has been set, and incomplete submissions which have not been touched by the author for a given number of days. The following retention policy is in place in EES for all journals: 1. Article information (the submission metadata, including Reviewer Attachments) will be stored indefinitely in EES.  2. Source files for accepted articles will be removed from EES three months after the paper has been finalised in the system (accepted and sent to production). These are basically all the files uploaded by the author (or the editor) e.g. manuscripts, figures, tables, companion files etc.  3. Submission PDFs (PDFs created by EES) will be kept for one year, after which they will be deleted.  4. Source files for rejected and withdrawn manuscripts will be deleted three months after the manuscript reaches the appropriate final disposition status (the end of the peer review lifecycle).  5. Submissions that are removed by the Author or the Editor at the beginning of the editorial process will be deleted immediately. 6. Businesses are impacted by the U.S. Financial markets through investing. For instance, if the number of investors lowers dramatically businesses will have a hard time finding funds to grow their business or even start it up at all. ...Complexities Ever wondered why we create complexities for ourselves? Is it our nature like Goulish tried to tell us? All these questions could pop up into anyone’s head once he/ she really put their heads into it. Upon taking just a glance at our lives we could manage to understand that we make things more complex than they have to. Confucius once said, “Life is simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” This quote ostensibly covers the whole idea of this essay. We as humans have had rough time through our evolution; we have gone through much as a race that it has affected us to our core. While the SEC has assisted in granting electronic access to financial information for small investors, it kind of seems counterintuitive that many small investors receive a minimal benefit as report complexity has continued to increase which in most cases lead to higher processing costs.
