Describe a situation from your life for each of the following 4 scenarios that demonstrates the difference between the following: 1. Issues versus Personalities
One instance that I can recall pertaining to this scenario is while on active duty deployment to Spain I was given a task with zero specific direction on how to accomplish said task. Now to explain why this is important, the task could have been accomplish 3 different ways, the easy way which took less time and people to accomplish, the in between area which is easy but takes a little more time because you pay a little more attention to certain tasks, and the best way, which isn’t ideal because we didn’t have the number of people required, the amount of equipment needed or the extra materials needed. The work being done was necessary but repairing it vs destruction and construction of a new one was less costly and more logical. The chief was having a bad day so when I asked him he just screamed “Work with what you got!” So did the less costly method and repaired the structure. Chief decided it was the wrong way and when I asked him why he didn’t tell me that in the beginning he wrote me up for insubordination. Chiefs personality interfered with his ability to give me accurate operational orders causing me to do the task the proper way but not exactly how he wanted.

2. Interests versus Positions
While on deployment to Iraq we were given a job that was expected to take 4 weeks, running past our 3 day weekend(which is a huge deal in Iraq) ultimately taking away our free days to complete the task. The crew knew they could finish the job faster by cutting certain corners. The leadership wanted this specific job to be used as a “Display” for the visiting Commander. They wanted…...

Journal 8

...Journal 8 I am a Generation X individual which I believe has a lot to do with my opinions on this matter of balancing work and family. I grew up in a home where both of my parents worked full time. I witnessed my mother do basically all of the housework when she came home. She cleaned, cooked, and did all the duties of helping the children get their homework done and ready for bed. My dad, on the other hand would come in from his full time teaching job, change clothes, and make his way to the chicken house or the strawberry fields to do yet another full time job. My parents seemed very balanced and happy with their roles in raising our family. This type of situation is also much of what I witnessed in the homes of my aunts and uncles as well. So of course this seemed very normal to me. I married very young and my husband and I have worked together using role compartmentalization (although we never called it that at the time) all of our married lives. We were both in school when we first married and both held part time jobs. As a newlywed I did not mind preforming all the housework duties, as time went by I began to realize that I had been doing the bulk of the work while he was coming home and laying back. We had to have a discussion and sort out our different responsibilities. This very important conversation, I believe, probably saved our marriage. I here friends say over and over again that their husbands just don’t help them out and they resent......

...Running head: SHORT TITLE OF PAPER (<= 50 CHARACTERS) Unit 8 Analysis 1 System Performance Computer Structure and logic Mr.Zakkary 11/11/14 Brandon Walker In computing, file system fragmentation, sometimes called file system aging, is the inability of a file system to lay out related data sequentially (contiguously), an inherent phenomenon in storage-backed file systems that allow in-place modification of their contents. It is a special case of data fragmentation. File system fragmentation increases disk head movement or seeks, which are known to hinder throughput. The correction to existing fragmentation is to reorganize files and free space back into contiguous areas, a process called defragmentation. File system fragmentation is projected to become more problematic with newer hardware due to the increasing disparity between sequential access speed and rotational latency (and to a lesser extent seek time), of consumer-grade hard disks,[3] on which file systems are usually placed. Thus, fragmentation is an important problem in recent file system research and design. The containment of fragmentation not only depends on the on-disk format of the file system, but also heavily on its implementation.[4] In simple file system benchmarks, the fragmentation factor is often omitted, as realistic aging and fragmentation is difficult to model. Rather, for simplicity of comparison, file system benchmarks are often run on empty file systems, and unsurprisingly, the results......

Journals Unit 5 and 6

...Unit 5: Journal In most cartoons from the Golden Age of American Animation, characters tend to stay the same with each new cartoon (no lessons are learned, no knowledge or plot lines are carried on to the next cartoon.)  However, the locations are often wildly different.  With each new short, Bugs Bunny might be in the Wild West, in the midsts of a Wagnerian opera-land, or in outer space.  Using for reference the last three episodes you have viewed from your chosen tv series, do the characters change and grow, or do they stay the same between episodes?   Are there reoccurring locations, or is there a new setting for the show each week?  If your show is different in these ways from Golden Age cartoons, why do you think that is?   In the last three episodes of my tv show, Scooby-Doo, the characters don’t change or grow in their characters but they do become more eager and impatient in finding more mysteries and getting them solved. For example, in one of the episodes Velma, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are all sitting around Fred’s house bored and ready for another mystery to land in their hands. Velma says “I’m so bored, we haven’t had a good mystery in I don’t know when.” This is usually the case in most episodes. The gang is anxiously waiting for another mystery to solve when one comes straight into their hands. In these episodes each mystery is occurring in different locations. One is occurring in Gatorsburg, the second in their hometown, and another on the......

...Thomas Whittemore Unit 3 Post University 1. How can Unions secure economic gains? Explain the ramifications Unions help economic growth, and they do not hinder them. Unions are out fighting for workers and getting them high pay and better pension benefits. This all translates into money that can be spent into a market economy. The more people buy products, the stronger and more powerful the economy becomes for everybody. To clarify - real unions are as important just as police, teachers, doctors etc. are necessary. Unfortunately in the US very few or none exist. Working men and woman who have fought and sacrificed for this country are the ones that have purchased true freedom and deserve to have voice 2. Briefly explain why organized labor was opposed to NAFTA. There has been significant opposition to NAFTA from organized labor. Unionists say NAFTA harms workers both here and in Mexico by taking U.S. jobs away and intensifying the exploitation of Mexican workers. Nearly half a million Mexicans already work in "maquiladoras" where over 1,500 mostly U.S.-owned assembly plants operate free of taxes and tariffs. Only about 10 percent are organized, compared to 25 percent of Mexican workers overall. Average pay runs from 50 cents to a dollar an hour. NAFTA will only intensify this exploitation as it lures corporations to set up runaway shops. Yet much of the opposition to NAFTA has been drawn on narrow lines and lets the capitalist system off the......

...Course Code: BIRMI 1A15 Unit 1 – Basic Hypnotherapy Techniques (Ofqual Ref. M/505/8186) Homework Assignment – Journal Entry Module 1 (1 – 1.1) Explain the state of hypnosis. Looking back, it is clear now that hypnosis has been around for many centuries and the use of hypnotic states can be traced back to Shamans or Witch Doctors. In the 1700’s Franz Anton Mesmer produced his theory of “animal magnetism” in which he believed healing forces could be transferred through “cosmic fluid” there is no evidence to support the transfer of the healing energies devised by Mesmer but his success rate was high which lead to his patients being described as “mesmerized” and mesmerism is an early forerunner for modern day hypnosis. Many theories utilising a hypnotic state then followed but it was not until an English physician called James Braid (1795-1860) giving mesmerism a scientific explanation of a “nervous sleep” introducing the word hypnosis derived from the Greek word for sleep Hypnos. Many theories evolved from this view and hypnosis eventually gained acceptance as a naturally occurring phenomenon. In the 1950’s hypnosis began a renaissance as it became recognized for the therapeutic potential in the fields of behavior modification and healing. Hypnosis can be categorised as a trance state or altered level of consciousness. Our minds are split between our conscious and subconscious states and we are able to switch between the two often unaided and without realising. A......

Health and Social Care Level 3 Unit 8

...Freud suggests that the majority of our memories and our thoughts and feelings are buried away in the unconscious part of the psyche (the mind, the unconscious and the conscious part of someone’s brain); people are not aware of these thoughts and feelings and do not always remember certain memories locked away in someone’s unconscious, without a cue for remembering them, however Freud suggested that they have a big impact on the choices people make and what they say and do. Freud explained that certain symbolisms express the thoughts and feelings that are buried in the unconscious; the way a person acts; a person’s dreams and the mistakes they make can all be decoded by burying into their unconscious. Freud argued that the psyche contained 3 parts which are in constant conflict with each other; the ego, ID and superego. The ID is the child-like, demanding part of the psyche that focuses fully on itself; it is ruled over by the “pleasure principle” – where the desires for pleasurable things overrules any other kind of consequence or additional requirement to receive these certain pleasures. The superego is the part of the psyche which always expects more out of itself; the superego is the voice inside someone’s head after a good night out saying, “you spent so much money last night,” or, “you should not have kissed that boy!” – The superego is fully focused on responsibility and potential. Finally, the ego is the “reality principle” which in some respect is the ‘referee’ for......
