Early twentieth-century farmers struggled to keep pace with demand
In 1950, American farmers rejoiced at news from a New York laboratory: A team of scientists had discovered that adding antibiotics to livestock feed accelerated animals’ growth and cost less than conventional feed supplements. The news blew “the lid clear off the realm of animal nutrition,” crowed the editors of one farm magazine. Farmers and scientists alike “gasp[ed] with amazement, almost afraid to believe what they had found.” “Never again,” vowed another writer, would farmers suffer the “severe protein shortages” of the past.
Those glad tidings overshadowed contemporaneous warnings about bacterial resistance, most notably from a series of Japanese studies. Researchers had found that bacteria repeatedly exposed to antibiotics possessed an uncanny ability to thwart the very drugs designed to kill them. In 1966, the editors of the New England Journal of Medicine warned that if humanity continued to ignore the reality of bacterial “resistance,” they would “find themselves back in the preantibiotic Middle Ages.” It wasn’t until the early 1970s that some Americans began lobbying to ban antibiotics from the farm, arguing that feeding animals “sub-therapeutic” doses of antibiotics fostered bacterial resistance in meat-eating humans. Alas, science being what it is, for every critic who found evidence of links between antibiotic use in livestock production and antibiotic resistance in humans, another whipped out evidence to the contrary.
Fast forward to 2013: Scientists are still arguing about the dangers of bacterial resistance and the debate about antibiotics as a feed supplement rages on. What’s missing is the history of why antibiotics arrived on the farm — and why farmers then and now have lobbied to keep them there.

...thousands of promiscuous pictures of themselves, and constantly fish for compliments. I’m so annoyed with the women in my generation because people think it’s the men who are degrading the women, but it’s the women who are degrading their selves. We also have those annoying facebookers who use the social network for a fitness diary. People constantly make statuses about how much they work out. Not only is it annoying but it also give big people a complex and make them uncomfortable. Now I can understand people who are trying to lose weight post pictures every now and then to see the progress but every day?! Some of the examples of statuses people make are “Wow, can’t believe I did 100 sit ups today”, “ Ugh so sore from my two hour workout”, “whoo hoo! About to work out!, or “ Just ran 5 miles, off to yoga”. Its people who be in the gym working out and would really have a photo shoot. I just wish they would realize there are plenty of people that workout, quietly minding there own business. This social network is filled with desperate, thirsty men. What annoys me the most about these men are the random messages they send my inbox. Asking for your number or giving you there number asking for you to call them, and if you don’t respond they will send the message several times. They would like every picture you post and leave lame comment or ask things like “your sexy”,” do you have a man”, or “can I get to know you”. Its like the never get the hint. Last but not least we......

Sana’y di magmaliw ang pagtingin Kaydaling sabihin , kayhirap gawin Sa mundong walang katiyakan Sabay natin gawing kahapon ang bukas. Ikaw at ako, pinag-isa Tayong dalwa may kanya kanya Sa isa’t-isa tayo ay sumasandal Bawat hangad kayang abutin Sa pangamba’y di paaalipin Basta’t ikaw, ako Tayo magpakailanman. ...credible and trustworthy so you can source it without worry. Scholarly resources are written to be used by students and for research purposes. “The electronic resources available to you include scholarly journal and general magazine articles, e-books (academic and reference), newspaper articles, company profiles, legal documents, reports, conference proceedings, government publications, and more.” (library.ashford.edu) Another type of resource, which is NOT found in the Ashford library, are popular resources. These are less complicated articles and written in a more plain language that is easier for a certain type of audience to understand. Knowing that everything you find and research is scholarly means, for us students, no more Wikipedia! Whoo hoooo! As mentioned above the Ashford library is comprised of databases. There are way to many to list here however the intro to the library and personal experience suggests that ProQuest, JSTOR, EBSHOHost and Project MUSE are the most useful. ProQuest and EBSHOHost are collection of other databases that almost anything can be found while JSTOR and Project MUSE are more geared towards the full text journal items and does not contain magazines or newspaper articles. I mentioned that the library offers tutorials to help you along and these databases can be a bit overwhelming especially to a first time user. No worries, there are tutorials to teach you how to use them. I personally feel that Ashford has a great product......

...quickly dwindled. Next up was the all-male R&B vocalist group, mprynt. The group is composed of four males all from Philadelphia. As a group they are comparable to 90’s male groups such as Jodeci, Dru Hill, and B2K. When they first stepped on stage they immediately grabbed the attention of the crowd. They started with a melody of popular 90s songs from all male groups such as the ones previously stated. They appealed more to the females in the room because of the sexual innuendos and dance moves they performed. They had a very strong stage presence they demanded the attention of the audience. Mprynt gave a wide range of vocal harmonies and this added to their overall appeal to the women in the room which was evident by the screams and whoos heard throughout the venue. Finally the last performer and in my opinion the best of the night, Ms. Marsha Ambrosius. Marsha Ambrosuis is an R&B singer. According to freedictionary.com R&B is defined as “a style of music developed by African Americans that combines blues and jazz, characterized by a strong backbeat and repeated variations on syncopated instrumental phrases.” As she sang Marsha gave a story as to the songs she performed and related it back to the album’s title whether the song related to lovers or friends and if she though that two people could be lovers and friends. There was no question as to what the song implied or was about during the performance because she gave those details to the audience before......
