Power is a relational dynamic between individuals or between groups of people and is often unequally distributed.This inequality results in control or domination.The pattern in which power is distributed in a society or the power structure of society is strengthened by the force of tradition ,values,history and by the prevalent ways of thinking and behaving.Any effort to change the balance of power entails change in the existing power structure.

Women's empowerment is the process by which women negotiate a more equitable distribution of power , a greater space in the critical decision making processes in the home ,in the community and in the economic and political life.The aim of empowerment of women is the fuller and wholesome development of both men and women. Empowerment of women is anti-men.It is against patriarchy.Changes in law pertaining to marriage ,property,sexual harassment ,dowry,rape and other forms of violence,so as to bring in laws favouring or supporting women's empowerment are necessary but not enough.Enabling women to actually access to the benefits of appropriate laws is the key task of the empowerment process.

The process of empowerment which seeks an equitable and active share for women has to deal with the burden of ideas and values which are passed on to women as part of their socialisation process from their very childhood.This social conditioning becomes part of her person and mindset and influences her behaviour.The empowerment process must begin with women changing their own ways of thinking and behaving .They must try to appreciate themselves more and to recognise and value their knowledge and skills and their contribution of the sustainability of the households and the community.

Young girls were required to obey the commands of their fathers, and women were to fulfill the wishes of their husbands. The men believed that this was their right. In other words, Ladyland is an imaginary country where women are dominant over men, and women hold supreme power. Additionally, Ladyland turns out to be futuristic ideal world where women are beyond the segregated Purdah, and men live in isolation and secluded in quarters called mardana (Hossain 1905; 8-9). Ladyland is ruled politically and socially by women and they take place in a public sphere whereas men are confined to private and hidden world. Men are not taken into much consideration in Ladyland. By creating a fantasy world in which women play a dominant role, “Sultana’s Dream” compels us to perceive women’s potential to innovate, to create our own world and to exercise power in men’s world in which women are not demoralized. The proverb “Men and women are two wheels of the same chariot, without one the other cannot exist” or “Men and women are two sides of the same coin” tend to equalize men and women in every aspects of life. Economic empowerment? Social empowerment? In fact, these categories are not mutually exclusive but mutually reinforcing. Women’s political empowerment, usually envisioned as political participation in elections and government, is necessary to give women a voice in the policies that affect their lives. Women’s economic empowerment, which entails that women have the authority to make their own decisions regarding use of their resources, leads to prosperity for families and communities. Social empowerment, often achieved through public policy and education, liberates women from the mistreatment, exploitation, and oppression that inhibit women from reaching their full potential. Women for Women

...This is a support group for women who are struggling to cope because of domestic violence. It is a closed group that will run for a certain amount of sessions before starting a new group. This group will consist of 4 to 12 women of any age, preferably with children, but can include any kind of circumstance. All ethnicities or religious affiliations are welcomed, in fact diversity is appreciated. We only ask that you come with an open mind and an open heart. This group will conduct several support groups to help survivors cope with the confusion, anger and fear often experienced after episodes of sexual assault and domestic violence. These groups enable survivors to share their experiences, feelings and provide others and themselves with support to overcome their fears and feelings of isolation. The purpose of this group is to find a commonality among all members and gain a sense of empowerment and unification through discussions and self disclosure. These sessions will be held at the Poudre Valley Hospital on the basement floor in room 111 from 5 to 6 pm. It will be available every second and fourth Tuesday of each month, two sessions per month, for 6 months. I have taken the time to  narrow down my study to one company I visited a while back.  This company’s name is MexFabrics. I wrote about it in a report I did in college and I made some points about the company as well as I stated recommendations and solutions for improvement as is stated below. From my case study: MexFabrics is an established manufacturer of fine men’s clothing in Mexico, whose high turnover of skilled staff (mostly women) is threatening product quality and output. The human resource manager is expected to outline a strategy to reduce employee turnover. The case focuses on possible causes of, and strategies to reduce, employee turnover. 1. What are the main reasons that contributed to MexFabrics´ employees to leave their jobs? A: Low literacy skills and lack of responsibility seemed to be a constant characteristic among many manufacturing employees in developing countries.  Coming from poor families, many employees just wanted to survive day-to-day and had no vision of the possibilities that working in the sector could give them, such as skills development and economic stability.  In fact, personal among the workers or social problems within their households were seen as the main reasons for the high turnover, resulting in a shortage of experienced personnel.  Many employees lacked the necessary education to perform the work,......

...Ban Bossy Campaign The status of women goes back many years, where the woman was expected to be the house maker and take care of home and let her husband do he bread winning. Gone are those days. We have come so far as a nation and gained so much respect as women. However, removing the word bossy will not help our women be motivated to do more. There are so many other demeaning terms out there that can affect any person’s mentality; removing just one word will not change a thing. Apply this energy into the encouragement of our young women to do better and strive for more would be more effective than teaching them to be hurt by a word someone calls you. It also aims to study how the women have become empowered by this program. The sample constitutes sixteen female owners. A purposeful cluster sampling was used to depict six villages from various parts of Bangladesh. When arriving in the villages a snowball sampling method was used to find female VPP owners. The sampling method was chosen to include a sample of various characteristics. The study has a hermeneutic phenomenological approach, which aims to find out how the women experience the VPP and what meaning the women put in it. To collect empirical data interviews with open questions were used that opened up for conversation and the possibility to understand a range of experiences and nuances of meanings. Working class women were still tied to home or continued to work for very low wages in factories, on farms or as domestic servants. The expansion of women’s education allowed some women to enter careers that were deemed suitable, such as teaching, nursing and office work. Mobilisation of industry was a key factor during the First World War. The side which produced the greater amount of munitions (guns, tanks etc.) stood a better chance of victory. The government extended its power over the economy. There was a huge shortage of workers. Industry and agriculture demanded men but so did the army. The labour shortage needed to be dealt with and women were seen as the perfect people to fill this gap. Although many working class women were already in employment, they mainly held traditional female roles in domestic service or in textile factories and mills.
