SUBJECT: Canadian Operations Analysis Memo

Thank you for allowing me to work and share my findings of Cameco to you. As requested, I have evaluated the business, industry, and issues Cameco currently face. My analysis uses a few citations related to the industry. Based on my analysis, here are some of my thoughts on current opportunities, threats and competition Cameco’s currently faces.

Opportunity
Nuclear energy offers a solution to the world’s search of environmentally friendly energy sources. It is expected that the demand for Uranium will increase considerably resulting in a substantial need of mining company’s .Following Fukushima disaster; it has opened the door for companies, like Cameco, to acquire new investments at a lesser cost. According to Andrea Jennetta (2013), politicians need to get a grip and get leading on nuclear energy – not wasting time and resources on intermittent technologies that blow billions of dollars.

Threat
With Uranium market being unpredictable there are continuously risks with market fluctuation, stock prices and environmental elements. Equipment breakdowns water in- flows and cave-ins at mine sites can cause shutdowns or lags in production. Weather conditions and unforgiving natural elements are a major threat to business survival; effectives mine sites, reactors, exploration sites and potentially employees. Although vulnerable, Uranium has still plenty of safety systems. But as stated in the Canadian Nuclear Association (2013), Licensees have demonstrated, through analysis using conservative initial assumptions and significant safety margins that vital areas and critical SSCs (structures systems and components) is protected to the extent that no offsite consequences are…...

...Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. 1 Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. BUS 644 Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. 2 First we must incorporate priority rules. Priority rules are regulations which determine in which succession the orders in front of a production line should be worked (Stevenson 2011, p. 712). In deciding what priority rules to acclimate, an organization such as Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. should achieve the following objectives: 1. Meet due dates of the customers if the product goes directly to them or the downstream operations if the product is but an input of another. 2. Minimize the time the order spends within the process including wait time. 3. Minimize work-in-process inventory which inevitable ties resources which can otherwise be used in more productive activities. 4. Minimize idle time of both machine and human resources. Given these objectives, Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. can choose from different priority rules and some of the most popular are as follows: (Retrieved from table 16.2, Stevenson 2011, p. 712). First Come First Serve If Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. chooses this method to decide how the 5 orders are lined up, this will mean that the first order received will be processed first. The following table shows how this choice measures according to different measures of effectiveness: Job Date Order Received Set-Up Time (days) Production Time (days) Total Processing Time Flow Time Due Date Delays A 6/4 0.25 6 6.25 ...

A Man

...A shirtless young man stares out past the camera as if he is looking at the logo above his head. He needlessly clings to the rock to further accentuate his impressive body structure. The logo above his head reads “DOLCE & GABBANA” in a bold semi-transparent font. A small bottle of something is juxtaposed to his left. It is the item they are trying to sell, a sports cologne. This advertisement is very effective because of the use of ethos and pathos. Although those two parts are heavily used in this ad, logos is not present as much. Even with that being said many people are going to buy this particular cologne based on ethos and pathos. This is true because Dolce and Gabbana is a very well-known company, which plays a huge part in ethos with credibility and authority. Pathos is also used heavily with people wanting to look like that or women wanting their men to look like that; this makes the reader believe that if they wear this cologne women will be more attracted to them, and that they, too, can look as good as the model in the ad. This advertisement was featured in Muscle & Fitness magazine. This particular magazine is aimed towards classy young to middle-aged men who are professionals. This can be seen through the contents in the magazine. The magazine has lots of ads that are of watches, cologne, and nice cars. With that being said we do not believe that this magazine is geared toward younger teenage men because of what ads, pictures and articles in the......

A Man Is a Man

...A Short Essay A Man is a Man, A Woman is a Woman Tabitha Ponder Ashford University ENG 125 Introduction to Literature Professor Carla McGill February 4, 2013 A Man is a Man, A Woman is A Woman Some may say that a man is a man and a woman is a woman; and they should stay in there prospective places at all costs. Gender roles can sometimes be reversed. Specifically, I am going to address the gender reversal in marriage. Several factors may contribute to role (gender) reversal. It depends on the personality of the individuals involved, and how they learn to interact with one another (or not). Also, a change in circumstances or a chain of events can force a gender role reversal. For example, the husband may get hurt on the job and now the wife who is accustomed to staying home with the kids now is forced to go out and provide for the family. Let’s define gender roles within a traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Traditionally, the husband is the one who provides for the family financially. He is the bread winner. Because he is the bread winner, normally he is the final voice of authority in the home concerning any issues that may arise. The wife is the one who is the caregiver. The wife is the nurturer; she takes care of the children and the husband too! She is also takes care of the affairs of the home. The depth of most people’s belief in gender-role stereotypes is often overlooked. A husband may have the......

...CRITICAL ANALYSIS In Act II Sc.1 Polonius talks to a man named Reynaldo and sends him to spy on his son. Ophelia reports to her father Polonius the strange behaviour of Hamlet. Polonius immediately concludes that Hamlet is 'madly in love' with Ophelia: “That hath made him mad." He wants to report it to the king immediately, because Ophelia says he just stood there staring at her for five minutes covered in mud and looked insane. Polonius at first thinks that Hamlets love for Ophelia is a fake act, but soon finds that his love is actual true. But he then believes he has gone mad, he believes he has gone crazy. This creates dramatic irony, Polonius cannot tell the truth, he is misreading Hamlet and it leads to his death. We the readers know that he is wrong about Hamlet. This scene creates a beginning of Polonius end. He’s actions lead to his eventual downfall. This scene shows that Polonius is not trustworthy because of him spying on his son, it shows the deception that Hamlet has and that Ophelia really does care for Hamlet. The main theme that it develops is acting, because both Polonius towards his son and Hamlet towards Ophelia trick them with false words and emotion. In this scene we learn that Polonius makes false judgements, and Hamlet can be very deceptive with his actions and emotions. We learn that the theme of acting is very present in the play. Through this acting many characters in the play don’t not know what the true intentions of......

...Essays are generally scholarly pieces of writing giving the author's own argument, but the definition is vague, overlapping with those of an article, a pamphlet and a short story. Essays can consist of a number of elements, including: literary criticism, political manifestos, learned arguments, observations of daily life, recollections, and reflections of the author. Almost all modern essays are written in prose, but works in verse have been dubbed essays (e.g. Alexander Pope's An Essay on Criticism and An Essay on Man). While brevity usually defines an essay, voluminous works like John Locke's An Essay Concerning Human Understanding and Thomas Malthus's An Essay on the Principle of Population are counterexamples. In some countries (e.g., the United States and Canada), essays have become a major part of formal education. Secondary students are taught structured essay formats to improve their writing skills, and admission essays are often used by universities in selecting applicants and, in the humanities and social sciences, as a way of assessing the performance of students during final exams. The concept of an "essay" has been extended to other mediums beyond writing. A film essay is a movie that often incorporates documentary film making styles and which focuses more on the evolution of a theme or an idea. A photographic essay is an attempt to cover a topic with a linked series of photographs; it may or may not have an accompanying text or captions. An essay has been...

...generates far more corona emissions than a larger area. The increased corona emission almost prevents lightning from traveling the directed path. In the case of the blunt rod, the lesser emissions provided a desired path for the lightning to travel down. A lot of research was put in to find the ideal tip shape for lightning rods, and it was determined that the increased surface area directly correlates to how strong the electric field is at the tip of the lightning air terminal (LAT). Introduction: It is a beautiful and deadly natural occurrences. With a shock of several million volts per strike, and the capability to reach temperatures between fifteen-thousand and sixty-thousand degrees, lighting is one of the most powerful forces known to man. With all of that power lightning can cause a lot of damage. In North America lightning damage to equipment results in losses exceeding twenty-six billion dollars annually. Lightning strikes the ground around 8.6 million times a day making it nearly impossible to avoid, no matter where you live. A great deal of effort is put into protecting people and property from lighting strikes. One of the simplest and best known devices developed for lightning protection is the lightning rod. A lightning rod is a small metal rod that is normally attached to a high elevated structure. The rod is then connected to a wire that runs down the side of the building into a conductive grid. It is a common misconception that lightning rods attract......

...Moose and the Sparrow Hugh Garner From the very beginning Moose Maddon picked on him. The kid was bait for all of Maddon's cruel practical jokes around the camp. He was sent back to the tool-house for left-handed saws, and down to the office to ask the pay cheater if the day's mail was in, though the rest of us knew it was only flown out every week. The kid's name was Cecil, and Maddon used to mouth it with a simpering mockery, as if it pointed to the kid being something less than a man. I must admit though that the name fitted him, for Cecil was the least likely lumberjack I've seen in over twenty-five years in lumber camps. Though we knew he was intelligent enough, and a man too, if smaller than most of us, we all kidded him, in the good natured way a bunkhouse gang will. Maddon however always lisped the kid's name as if it belonged to a woman. Moose Maddon was as different from Cecil as it is possible for two human beings to be and still stay within the species. He was a big moose of a man, even for a lumber stiff, with a round flat unshaven face that looked down angrily and dourly at the world. Cecil on the other hand was hardly taller than an axe-handle, and almost as thin. He was about nineteen years old, with the looks of an inquisitive sparrow behind his thick horn-rimmed glasses. He had been sent out to the camp for the summer months by an distant relative who had a connection with the head office down in Vancouver. That summer we were cutting big stuff in......

...unhappy, God's unjust; If man alone engross not Heav'n's high care, Alone made perfect here, immortal there: Snatch from his hand the balance and the rod, Rejudge his justice, be the God of God. In pride, in reas'ning pride, our error lies; All quit their sphere, and rush into the skies. Pride still is aiming at the blest abodes, Men would be angels, angels would be gods. Aspiring to be gods, if angels fell, Aspiring to be angels, men rebel: And who but wishes to invert the laws Of order, sins against th' Eternal Cause. V. Ask for what end the heav'nly bodies shine, Earth for whose use? Pride answers, " 'Tis for mine: For me kind Nature wakes her genial pow'r, Suckles each herb, and spreads out ev'ry flow'r; Annual for me, the grape, the rose renew, The juice nectareous, and the balmy dew; For me, the mine a thousand treasures brings; For me, health gushes from a thousand springs; Seas roll to waft me, suns to light me rise; My foot-stool earth, my canopy the skies." But errs not Nature from this gracious end, From burning suns when livid deaths descend, When earthquakes swallow, or when tempests sweep Towns to one grave, whole nations to the deep? "No, ('tis replied) the first Almighty Cause Acts not by partial, but by gen'ral laws; Th' exceptions few; some change since all began: And what created perfect?"—Why then man? If the great end be human happiness, Then Nature deviates; and can man do less? As......
